Y Senydd and Pupil Voice

We are thrilled to unveil our Pupil groups! At Bryncoch CiW Primary, we truly believe that student voices matter, and we cherish your children's opinions. These groups empower students to express their thoughts on decisions affect them and engage in the excitement of a democratic society. We welcome all pupils from year 2 to join us for inspiring discussions where every voice counts. Plus, our First and Deputy First Ministers are on board to help organize the Y Senydd Bryncoch every month, ensuring a vibrant and active student community!

The Criw Cymraeg is delighted to announce that Bryncoch CIW Primary has been awarded the Siarter Iaith Bronze Award! This Award is a project introduced by the Welsh Assembly to all schools in Wales to promote the Welsh language, to develop a Welsh ethos and to encourage pupils to improve their Welsh language skills. We are very proud to have achieved the Bronze Award!

We are very proud to be a school in Wales therefore we feel it is important we learn about our language, history and culture.  Our Criw Cymraeg plays a key role in helping us achieve this.  Welsh and a sense of ‘Cynefin’ runs through the very core of the new Curriculum for Wales and it is very important that our future generations feel a strong sense of belonging to the Welsh Culture.

Our Criw Cymraeg is made up of representatives of pupils from Years 2 through to Year 6. Pupils are elected during the Autumn Term.  We meet weekly to promote Welsh and develop the Siarter Iaith across the school. We decide which targets we are going to work on, give feedback on how previous targets are going and discuss how to celebrate any special days/events that may be coming up in our Welsh calendar.
